An event that provides our local community with the opportunity to experience all that is good about life in rural Ireland. Originally held in Kilcullen’s field behind Enniscrone church, it has always been a hugely important annual event in our community. The show lapsed in 1970 but 20 years later in 1990, a decision was made to revive the show. The Castlefield with its hills providing a natural promenade was the location for the show from 1990 to 2016. As with most things in life, things change. In 2017 the Castlconnor Community Complex and surrounding lands provided a new home for the Enniscrone & District Agricultural & Industrial Show.
Although agricultural shows in many counties throughout Ireland are increasingly under pressure, the foresight and commitment of the new Enniscrone & District Show Committee succeeded in ensuring that our show will continue to be one of the best shows in the country. Moving to the new location in Castleconnor, together with a bigger and more vibrant committee means our show has a great future.
Still holding the traditional aspect of an agricultural show, the new committee is focused on the development of a trade/food fair, fun competitions, children/family activities, music, and entertainment. Another change which has been made to the show is to bring forward the date to the first Sunday in July. With preparations now firmly underway this year’s events a must for all the family.
